I am presently working on a composition based on this rather rough sketch of a woman in labor. Although I focused on her head to capture her expressions of pain and anticipation of where this is all going, the larger canvas shows her naked in a bathtub full of warm water — to ease the pain of labor which, from her expressions of agony, isn’t the most pleasurable of experiences. But then, moments later, a wave of excitement for what is to come.

I’ll be done with the larger, more interesting canvas sometime in August, maybe September. That is if I do not become distracted by some other composition which, I must confess, is often the case with many of my endeavors.
